Update: Parent refuses to rescind DNR for procedures

Original Post: [parent refuses to rescind DNR](https://www.reddit.com/r/AgingParents/s/ntbwwhWrXr)

Hi all. First off, thank you for the comments on the last post. I AM having a hard time replying to everyone with everything going on but have been reading most of it.

Second, I absolutely don’t disagree with anyone who said, “why waste time/resources on someone who just wants to die.” Several doctors met with my dad to discuss what needed to be done and told him what could happen if he refuses further care. He spoke with a psychiatrist and he told him everything I already knew. Why he doesn’t want to go on, etc.

After that visit, he was deemed competent. He was prescribed an anti depressant and something to help with his irritability. Of course, those take time to kick in. Once that visit happened, he met with the palliative care team and has been a lot nicer.

I am currently waiting for hospice to reach out to determine what he needs, when it will be delivered and set up and when I can take him home. I was able to get into his computer and needed accounts, pay some needed bills, etc. he also gave me his final wishes for being laid to rest, how he wants to be dressed, etc.

I haven’t cried yet today, so that’s a win 👍🏻
