64GB - Crosshair Hero VIII vs Asrock Taichi x570, How important is T-Topology for 4 DIMMS?
Waiting on the 3950X to drop and I've slowly started to get a few parts. I have 4x 16GB Crucial Balistic LT Sport and I was originally going to purchase a X570 Taichi, mainly because it's the only T-topology board i've seen in the X570 range.
Thing is, as the X3950 has been delayed my budget for the upgrade has increase a bit and the Crosshair VIII Hero has really caught my eye. The large amount of amount of IO (8 x USB 3.2 Gen 2; 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 vs the Taichi's 2x 3.2 Gen 2 and 6x 3.2 Gen 1) and Dual lan with 2.5Gbit has me very interested. I would be giving up 1 M2 slot :( but at least they are accessible without removing the graphics card and metal shroud :) . I would also be giving up the ability to add in Thunderbolt 3 ports in the future, but at the moment at least, I have nothing that uses it.
Thing is, I want to run 64GB on it and I'm concerned about the impact that the daisy chain topology would have on performance. Also the QVL for the hero only lists 2 dimms as working with the ram, whereas asrock list it in 2 or 4 Dimms.
Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are between these choices? does anybody know how much of a difference the T-topology would make? does anybody have any experience with 64GB of LT sport on the Hero VIII?
**EDIT: So I stumbled upon a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/d2xws8/tip_for_those_not_able_to_oc_ballistix_micron_e/ezy9dpi/) by [/u/Mackodlacko](https://www.reddit.com/user/Mackodlacko) who is using 4x16GB 3200MHz Crucial Ballistix RAM with a Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi motherboard. Apparently Mackodlacko had major issues in the beginning but changing the DRAM Current Capability to 130% in the BIOS fixed that and he/she has now been able to OC the ram to 3600 C14 and beyond.**
