On this day, around 1900 years ago, Claudia Severa celebrated her birthday. Because of the Vindolanda tablets we know she had invited her friend, Lepidina, to visit her on this day. How would a woman of this era, location & status typically have celebrated her birthday?

Would Lepidina have kept track of the date & known Claudia Severa's birthday was approaching when September came around each year? Would Lepidina have given Claudia Severa a birthday gift? Would Claudia Severa's servants/slaves, if she had them, have wished her a happy birthday when they saw her in the morning or would that be too impudent of them?
