What would realistically happen if there were a strong leftward shift in American politics?

Suppose those dirty, liberal, commie, pinko socialists finally get their way. We stop providing corporate welfare. We raise marginal tax rates to WWII era levels and tax capital gains the same rate as income. We restore the social safety net. We tighten environmental regulations and strengthen workers rights. We raise minimum wage to ghastly level of $15.00/hr. We implement a national healthcare system. We legalize cannabis and decriminalize other drugs. We nationalize the cost of college and allow students to pay back the money as a small percentage of their earned income, interest free. You name it, we jump left.

What realistically happens?

Do corporations adjust? Do prices skyrocket? Does hyperinflation set in? Do corporations move to other countries and abandon the US altogether? If they abandon the US, do people stand around staring at empty factories wishing they could work or do we seize the property and put it back to use?

I just want to know what all the doom and gloom predictions are for what would happen if the US actually swung to the left instead of being deeply entrenched on the right when compared to the rest of the world.
