Reddit, what is the greatest act of love you have performed for someone else?

I don't just mean romantic love, but that can count as well.

I will share a story to start: A woman I know was in an awful relationship and needed to get out, so a good friend of hers (male) basically saved her life as well as the lives of her two children to get her away from the crazy stalker abusive ex. He dropped everything and drove with her across the country to get her away. They are now married and he's raising the two children from the previous relationship.

I want to hear some more feats of love!
