What are some things you want us ignorant foreigners to know about China?

Hi! An American checking in and bothering you with silly questions, I hope you don't mind. I am slowly but surely befriending several Chinese students at my boarding school. In an attempt at being a better friend and just being less ignorant all around I was wondering, what are some things you wish we (foreigners) knew about China? Are there any common misconceptions you encounter outside of China that you can set straight? Thanks so much for your time!
