That Sublocade commercial and the evil aspect to the language at the end.
Hey guys,
In case you haven't seen it, there is a Sublocade (ie. buprenorphine) commercial being broadcast on television these days. I've seen it on network television as well as digital channels like Investigation Discovery (ID).
Most striking is the part at the end where they tell you to reach out to their doctor with the language, "I am physically dependent on opioids."
Now I hope most of us here know that the "physical dependence of opioids" has been abused by psychiatrists, pharmacists, etc. alike by including those of us with chronic/intractable pain who are dependent on this medicine, *sure*... but that's only because **it prevents DEBILITATING PAIN that can't otherwise be treated.** So this commercial pretty much instructs you and I to submit to this admittance that our use of opioids is a *choice.* Which is BS, of course, but Andrew Kolodny and pals at PROP gotta get P-A-I-D, don't they?? Of course that's what really matters at the end of the day: the price of shares.
