Guys if the Dems just held out a little longer Trump would’ve finally caved

No idea what everyone was expecting to happen if the shutdown kept going, but the significant amount of attention given to what republicans are doing to the ACA seems like realistically the best case scenario.

Dems are in a shitty situation and did the best they could with the nonexistent leverage they have. All I keep seeing is vague “they shouldn’t have given up on the ACA” complaints with no actual details or strategies as to what would’ve resulted in something more significant while conservatives have control of every branch of government.

The clock was ticking to help those suffering from the shutdown and Trump was more concerned with his ballrooom then negotiating. The discussion around and attention given to the ACA on it’s own is a major victory towards what should be everyone’s one and only priority, which is midterms.

Also, I keep seeing it said that “people need to feel the effects of their votes” as a reason the Dems shouldn’t have “caved” and then in the same breathe bring up how we shouldn’t have “given up on the ACA”. That seems hypocritical, pick a lane.
