Why does No Backup Plans change color with subclass but provide no benefits if you’re running anything but Void?

It just seems odd that they’d make them change color but wouldn’t provide synergy. Something like full Solar energy drops a sunspot/procs restoration on shotgun kill, full Stasis energy generates a crystal on shotgun kill, etc.
