Invisigirl was in Shroud's employment the entire time so, when she got the pulse and was "ambushed" by him, wouldn't that imply they were just pretending that she was in mortal danger? Maybe the plan was for her to appear dead so Shroud could have his goons convincingly dispose of the "body", at which point Robert would be convinced she had died, enabling Invisigirl to exit the Z-Team and comtinue working for Shroud from the shadows

Maybe that actually was her plan, and Chase's sacrifice caused her to have a huge change of heart
