Alternate Win Conditions.

One of the many mechanics that I have run across in my few years playing commander is the "Alt Win Con". I, personally, have not been quiet when it comes to my disdain for some of these conditions, especially cards like Approach of the Second Son, the ten poison counters, milling yourself out etc.)

You get the idea.

So let's talk about it.

How does everyone else feel about winning or losing based meeting a specific goal, if you will, such as having exactly 13 cards in hand, having more than X amount of life, or controlling X amount of artifacts?

Some of these, are fairly easy to get around, and those win cons I don't have an issue with...but the Jace that awards you the game because you milled yourself out, imo, is garbage. You essentially killed yourself. I hate poison counters because it has enabled creatures like [[brightsteel colossus]] and Etali to one shot players, and there are limited ways to remove poison counters. I also don't love that you only need ten of them, when it should be at least 15 and as high as 20.

Now, with that being said, as long as they are valid cards, I have no issue playing against them and won't raise a fuss if someone does play them.

Maybe I'm just old school and like simple things like a strong board state, high life totals, and combat...I come from a time in Magic where mana burn was a legitimate problem and if you didn't untap your shit before your draw step...it stayed tapped and you passed your turn

What does everyone else think?
