What are some commonly held EDH beliefs that you think are just not true anymore?

Me myself, I really think that the “red is bad“ belief should have gone out the door a long time ago. Red has multiple strategies that you can play into that will perform very well in all casual brackets of play. I will say that red often times asks that you play to its strengths rather than the more traditional avenues of car draw and ramp, but it can still work.

Additionally “aggro is bad” hasn’t been true for over a decade. There was a time when 120 life was seen as an impossible goal, but so many commanders have been printed that can melt that life total that I just can’t say that it’s true. Nowadays, I think what actually is true is that a lot of people think that “Aggro is rude if done well. I don’t think it’s reasonable that I should have to interact so early in the game or die, so would you mind going slower“ which ends up transforming it into bad mid range.

And here’s my spiciest take: “pay the one“ is not enough anymore. It’s the “white room theory craft” of Commander. It works in an idealized scenario where everyone has resources to spare and can afford to do so until someone draws removal. But that rarely happens in practice and often it isn’t even the players fault. Study honestly should be banned, but people are convinced that it’s sufficient to just “pay the one“ so the card is tolerable.

But these are some of my takes on commonly held beliefs that I think are no longer true. What about you all?
