Have you found a fic that plays with a trope you usually hate or avoid in such a way that you don't really mind it, or even enjoy it?

For example, I don't do soulmates... except for one fic featuring one particular asshole character I adore, where his lack of a moral code is a source of conflict for him and his soulmate as they navigate political intrigue together ~~and have extraordinary sexual tension together too~~
