Do you research authors you dont know before starting off a new series?

It has come to my attention that in most threads someone will always mention an author background, politican views, religion, sex, sexual orientantion or whatever else that is particular about than, and will explain how those things either led them to either reading or avoiding the authors works.

I think i might be an outlier because none of that has ever mattered to me, to the point that beyond reading the authors name on the book cover and the book synopsis i dont check anything else, heck i read the first Farseer trilogy without even knowing it was a woman who wrote it (Robin is a name that works for both men or woman). Personally to me whenever i decide to try a new book i want the work done by the author to speak by itself and i will judge it only on that, i might be making a mistake i suppose by indirectly endorsing questionable individuals but thats just how i fell.

What about the rest of you? Do you research new authors? How far do you go on your search? Does the information you find ever make a difference in your decision to start something new?
