Most central places to live for most varied fishing?
I was thinking about this the other day - I moved to Philly area a few years ago and have slowly come to enjoy the varied fishing opportunities here. The city itself isn’t much, tho Wissahickon is a pretty darn good stream for a city. But within a 2 hours drive I can fly fish for wild brooks and brown, bass fish, cat fish state record waters, and get access to Jersey shore for striped bass, fluke, bluefish, etc.
Add another few hours travel and you can toss in tuna/mahi/etc taking a boat out to the canyon, access to upstate/central NY for trout and salmon and steelhead, and even icefishing. Overall within a days travel there is actually a great variety of types of fishing and it’s way better than I originally expected.
So it got me wondering. If you were to add a limit of 6-8 hrs travel (boat or car) - what places in the US give the most variety of fishing opportunities?
