Interesting encounter at Walmart

Not sure if this is allowed here. Delete if need be

My wife and I had to make a quick trip into Walmart tonight after church for a BBQ we’re having this weekend. Currently waiting on my Glock 48 to come in so I had just thrown my 19 owb on my hip after church. Probably shouldn’t have but hindsight’s 20/20 now.

Pushing the cart down the main aisle a random customer makes a beeline right towards us. I turn the cart to sort of cut him off because he was coming from my wife’s side and he leans in and whispers “I know it’s your right but at least cover it up, it’s scary for the rest of us”.

At this point I just say okay and keep walking while pushing my wife and the cart forward.

When we pay and head out to my truck he’s wandering around the parking lot(we wonder if he had been drinking or on something) and just happens to be standing next to my truck. He walks a couple cars down when he sees us. I put my wife in the truck and make her lock the doors while I load groceries into the only unlocked door in the backseat.

What would you guys have done differently in this situation, other than probably just not open carry.
