Is now a good time to start playing?

So I first heard about Infinity Nikki through the girlcott that happened. I kinda dismissed it and didn’t bother picking up the game, but it looks gorgeous and it’s a dress up game with lore so that’s even better. But I’m wondering if the issues that caused the girlcott were still prevalent? I really wanna play, it looks so whimsical.

Edit: also, do I have to play the other games before Infinity?
