Are the Caligula Effect games worth playing?

So basically, Caligula effect Overdose and Caligula Effect 2 are on sale on Switch. I’ve heard they got mixed reviews, but I heard the premise was pretty interesting. So to not waste time and money, are these games good and worth playing? If Caligula Effect 2 is better, can I play it without playing Overdose? Are these stories and/or gameplay good? Any details would be helpful.
