PSA: charging in case

I turn my Legion Go off, then before I pop it into the case I always check that it’s definitely off (learned this from the steam deck). After doing this I thought I would pop the power into it through the case hole to charge it. Well, after 3 hours I opened the case to find a burning hot Go. It then wouldn’t power on and was starting the fan, the controller lights did 6 red flashes then an amber flash then powered off and repeated this.

I left it for an hour but this repeated when checking again. Eventually I removed the backplate, disconnected the battery, (I also had to disconnect the Joysticks before this worked) connected power and booted. After a few mins it sprung to life. Once in windows I reconnected the battery and it has started charging. The battery was at 0% so looked like it had discharged?? I waited till it had 20% battery and disconnected the power, the screen want black but woke as soon as I moved the thumb stick. Shutdown and restarted fine Without power attached. Now charging it up to full.

updating with info from event logs, no entries between me shutting down windows and it finally booting. I’m going to avoid charging in the case now.
