Changes to the Sub -- Opinions Requested
My time is valuable, and so is yours. My vision for this place was for it to be a space for creativity and less so for plain consumerism. I'm gonna try to keep this concise:
* Moratorium on box redesign discourse: this subject has been done to death and has devolved into misinformation and karma farming. * Questions are quarantined: low-quality questions like "is this a bootleg" or "will X rerelease" or "what should I buy" now are only permitted in the megathread. The only questions allowed as a standalone post are thought-provoking, discussion-generating questions such as "which nendo means a lot to you" or "which nendo is most faithful to the ref material" are allowed. These are at my discretion. * This is also NOT a customer service sub! * Questions like "which series do you want as a nendo" are a little overdone but I think I will allow it as long as it's not something I see every day. * Addressing sale spam: sale posts need to have prices listed. No "send me an offer" stuff. Buying should not be a game of higher or lower. Also, posts don't need to be resubmitted to the sub every other day. Deleting the original post to repost and bump the new one to the top is dishonest and I'm trying to figure out what to do about that. * Thoughts on karma farming: I want to collect opinions on posts like "day XX of asking opinion on random nendos". I've had complaints that it's spammy and low-effort which isn't totally wrong. I think "nendo of the day" is an interesting concept given there's 2000+ nendos out there, but I question the veracity of the randomness when JJK is picked like 5 times in a row. It feels like fishing for engagement. I let it run for \~30 days, should I let it run longer? * Thoughts on box posts: I'm taking a page out of r/Gunpla's book and have thought about nixing posts of backlogs. Nine times out of ten it's just really plain, uninteresting content unless it's *actually* interesting like signed boxes or something like Snow Miku boxes where there's a gimmick. Yay or nay?
I want more fanart, more photography, more videos, more comics, more customs, more high-quality memes\*, and better discussion. Just more creativity across the board. Might have missed something. Share your thoughts below.
