I just got my Nothing phone today. First impressions, annoyances, and advice request...
So I just picked up my 3A Pro in the mail today and I was so excited to see it. It had a nice build and felt nice in my hand. As it requested, the first thing I did was to copy my old phone data and primarily apps...
I selected 95 of the 150 apps on my old phone and it progressed as if everything was normal.
However, after the "copying" was done 10 minutes later, only three of my personal apps showed up in the app drawer.
So I thought, okay, no problem, I'll just re-download them from the play store. EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THE PLAYSTORE ON THE PHONE DOESN'T WORK. Every time I click it, it just says there is an error and shuts down. I have tried emptying the cache, restarting the phone, Even doing a factory reset.... Nothing.
I'm not sure how to use a phone that the Play Store doesn't work and I'm not given any reasonable ways to change it.
This brings me to my other more minor qualm. I had thought that Nothing in building their own phones, and UI would have their own apps in the ecosystem for managing phone calls, SMS, and files. I was very disappointed when all of those apps were stock Google. Google already has enough of my information. I don't want every phone call, and text message I receive to be in their database as well.
So now, if I can get the phone to work at all, I'm also looking for third-party apps for those features.
Thank you for reading my rant, and please let me know if you have any advice on the subject.
