Ah, we meet again.
After another 8-month-long run from reality, I have finally been forced to my senses. I detoxed on my own, my withdrawals have ceased to exist aside from the occasional anxiety and subtle depression. I know that this is the time to act, if I don't take on serious positive changes now, I'll slip back in to the same deprivation that I've desperately tried to escape for the last handful of my short years on this Earth. I've reached out to the most positive and sober group of friends I know, all of which are informed of my situation, and have made it clear that they are more than happy to be of any assistance they can on my path to recovery. The point of this is to reach out to my highly valued Reddit community, I've lurked here long enough to know that if a fellow user reaches out, there will be a hand to receive him/her. So here I am, as all that I am, requesting the assistance of a fellow addict to aid me in filling my free time with positive action, optimism and love. Thanks guys.
P.S. I'd rather not get into it, but just to get this out of the way before I get a dozen responses suggesting I join AA, I have tried this path, multiple times. Each time with a different outlook, situation, and circumstances. I have not yet found a reason to stay aside from the fellowship, and community. I have personal qualms with the steps but I do understand the importance of getting out and listening to other addicts' stories that are so similar to mine, so although I will on occasion get to a meeting, I have no interest in dedicating myself to the steps once again.
