"Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game" - Soren Johnson
Yeah, that's me and I'm not happy about it.
I have to say I loved the game (I just beat it on Veteran), but it was too easy.
Why was it too easy? It might not have just been the difficulty level. I optimized the fun out of it. :(
The main thing was I discovered the different cost of goods at different havens, so I built up a large fleet of planes and spent WAY TOO MUCH time shuttling back and forth buying low, selling high, and building up a huge amount of resources. Very effective, but VERY tedious.
Once I learned the SP system, I realized that bringing a tank along means you lose out on 30 personal SP. So I stopped bringing tanks even though tanks are a lot of fun. :(
I also avoided bringing level 7 soldiers on missions in the beginning because I didn't want to 'waste' any XP -- even though it would have been really cool to try out those level 7 abilities.
Is it OCD? ADD? Asperger's? Tourette's?
Do I need to change up my meds? Start therapy?
Unfortunately, "Just don't do it" doesn't work so well on me. :/
OK, enough of my pity party.
I just bought the DLC and am going to try it again. Any thoughts on which DLCs to use? All of them?
Thanks in advance.
Again - great game. It's just me. I'm the kind of guy that keeps saying "Just one more round of LOST, and THEN I'll end the mission". <sigh> Who can fix me?
I'm talking about farming XP in X-Com on the slim chance that someone here didn't get the reference. :-)
