Stealth exam

About 1/3 of my students come to my early morning class regularly. We've got an in-class exam coming up. How problematic would it be if I only verbally reminded students of the exam? It was previously announced and clearly shown on the schedule. Of course this is to make a point, and could backfire WRT having to deal with a slew of doctor's notes and other such headaches.
