On this day 10 years ago, Re:ZERO Episode 18 From Zero aired for the first time.

Quite possibly the most misunderstood episode in the history of anime. It's like people didn't even try to understand what this episode was really about back when it came out.

It doesn't help that years of reposted Reddit memes just further destroyed the meaning of this episode. So most people were remembering the shitty "I love Emilia" memes instead of the actual episode. For many people, it was their first exposure to Re:Zero, and they never bothered to watch it because the memes gave them the wrong impression, and I was almost one of them.

Even these days, you sometimes see people like this who are still stuck in 2016 because they'd rather rely on their old false memories than rewatch the actual episode with a fresh and unbiased mindset.
