Opened a Japanese produced collector booster for FF, So I figured I'd get some good high detail photos to help people that commonly have issues with theirs.
Going to apologize a little bit right of the bat, a couple of images here are collages I edited from multiple microscope shots. My microscope is great for viewing with the eye but it's too close even at the minimum for complete photos. So, you'll see a tiny bit of artifacting where I blended the photos together, but all the broad good signs are visible.
These are pack fresh legit cards from Japanese collector booster packs. So there are a few things you'll see that I've found are common on them.
\-Foils tend to have thinner black layers, you can often see some color through it with a strong light and good scope/loupe. (This is normally a bad sign, but the sharpness and layers are very clear still here)
\-The Japanese foils tend to have a small pixel/cube like texture to the foil in a lot of places, very noticeable on the paintbrush sign.
These are of two cards taken through a cheap loupe($15 - Jewelers loupe with LED 30x60x90x), a cheap microscope ($20 - Carson MicroBrite with LED), with my cell phone (pixel 4XL), and a generic resin UV light like 15$
Picture # 1 - Collage green dot from the back of a regular non foil card. (Bartz Klauser \[Winota, Joiner of Forces\] Just for reference lol)
Picture # 2 - Collage T from 'the' on the same card
Picture # 3 - Dots between the h and e, same card, through scope
Picture # 4 - Generic mana font in the cost of the card, through loupe
Picture # 5 - Red mana symbol in the cost of the card, through loupe
Picture # 6 - White mana symbol in the cost of the card, through loupe
Picture # 7 - Planeswalker symbol in the holographic stamp, through loupe
Picture # 8 - Mana symbol in the holographic stamp, rotated light source, through loupe
Picture # 9 - Microprint in the holographic stamp, through loupe
Picture # 10 - Paintbrush symbol, same card, through scope
Picture # 11 - Collage Transform symbol from double sided Foil card (Zenos Yae Galvus, for reference)
Picture # 12 - Foil paintbrush symbol through scope, same card
Picture # 13 - Foil Microprint in the Holographic stamp, through scope, same card
Picture # 14 - Foil Planeswalker symbol in the Holographic stamp, through scope, same card
Picture # 15 - Foil Mana symbol in the Holographic stamp, through scope, same card, same place with rotated light source
Picture # 16 - Foil Mana symbol in the mana cost, through scope, same card (can really see how thin the black layer is on Japanese foils sometimes)
Picture # 17/18 - Regular card with UV light on the back (This effect is MUCH more pronounced when viewing through the phone as the phone camera can pick up uv light better.)
Anyways hope these are useful! I'll probably reference this myself with the common posts and the Japanese printings lol.
