QUESTION: During the Squeals, the Republic is back in power. So why is the Republic not helping to defeat the First Order?

The First Order are literal terrorist and insurgents. With the republic being recreated, you would think that the full force of the Republic Army would be unleashed to crush the First Order. Instead, we get "rebels" that are low on resources and virtually vanquished by the end of the Last Jedi.
