An Egalitarian alternative to the Galactic Imperium.

I got a great game going as an egalitarian fanatic pacifist and I have the dream of ending galactic conflicts through peaceful means. I decided to devote a lot of my time and resources to dominating the senate with hopes of one day realizing this dream of mine, however after becoming custodian I came to realize that the only way to truly bring peace to the galaxy was to become the galactic imperium and throw away my long standing tradition of peace and democracy as becoming the imperium gives you authoritarian ethics and turns you into an empire.

needless to say I'm pretty bummed about that. sure I can cheese it and become the empire and then turn around and embrace egalitarianism again but throwing away my traditions and beliefs, even for a moment, just feels wrong. this got me thinking, we have the totally not star wars rip off galactic empire, but we don't have the totally not star wars rip off galactic republic. Why don't we have a galactic republic option for Egalitarians?

some of you are probably thinking "that just sounds like the galactic senate with extra steps" but its really not. I imagine it would be like the Imperium, but instead of one state being emperor for life in the galactic republic the "president" is rotated out every 40 years or so. kind of like how the federations work now, but galactic and with all the law options the imperium has (like say, outlawing war). a United States of the Galaxy if it were.

is there any mods out there that might add something like that? or is this just a pipe dream? is it a dumb idea or do you agree that it's kinda strange that the Imperium is the only option available for the custodian.
