I used to be the "smart kid." Now I'm in my 3rd year of university and I feel like I'm failing everyone's expectations

I don't really know where else to talk about this.

When I was in primary school, I was one of the top students. Teachers praised me, my parents were proud, and everyone in my family and community started seeing me as "the smart one."

But as the years went by, I slowly stopped performing as well. High school became harder, and an university became way more harder( now I'm in my 3rd year of university). I'm not failing everything, but I'm definitely not the student everyone thinks I am.(I am not talking about grades,I do have 3.8/4.0 GPA. But my competence is down in general)

The hardest part is that my family and people around me still believe I'm the same topper I used to be. They have high expectations, and every time they ask about my studies, I feel like I'm disappointing them. I don't even know how to explain that I'm struggling.

Lately, I've been feeling really low. I compare myself to who I used to be and wonder where that version of me went. Sometimes I feel like I only succeeded as a kid because things were easier back then, and now everyone else has caught up while I've fallen behind.

Has anyone else gone through something like this? How did you deal with the pressure of living up to an old version of yourself? Did things ever get better?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who've been in a similar situation.

Thanks.
