2021 Thermostatic Valve Failure at 58k

What is up with these things? Are there any better aftermarket alternatives? This thing has been oil changed every 5k and serviced every 30 if not sooner just cause I like to get things double checked often and my home mechanic was a long-time Subaru mechanic lead so he knows what's up. Luckily it failed open giving me time to drive it to a dealership and if you don't know, Subaru should replace it for free within 15y/150k so not a big deal other than the time sink. I just did cross-country again and no issues, it just died holding 60 out of nowhere about a week after getting here. I love this car and still way better than my Blazer/Aveo past but man this part stinks of cheap engineering specifically.
