Characters die, go to heaven and have their happily ever after there
***Apopheosis*** (Greek for "deification/divinization") ***of Heracles*** \- Heracles saves his wife Deianira from the centaur Nessus by shooting the arrows that have Lernaean Hydra poisonous blood on them. In revenge Nessus gives Deianira his blood-soaked tunic before he dies, telling her it will "excite the love of her husband". Later Deianira gives Heracles the bloodstained shirt, this poisons him, tearing his skin and exposing his bones. Heracles then uproots several trees and builds a funeral pyre for himself, is burned, anf theough Zeus rises to Olympus as he dies and is happy there with his new wife goddess Hebe.
>In art, an apotheosis scene typically shows the subject in the heavens or rising towards them, often accompanied by a number of angels, putti (chubby children, sometimes with wings), personifications of virtues, or similar figures.
***Swan Lake*** (1895 production libretto) - Prince Siegfried's announcement that he's going to marry Odette (the white swan) should've lifted a spell from her and other maidens who have to live as swans during a day at the lake made out of Odette mother's tears. But evil wizard who ensorcelled the maidens makes his daughter Odile (the black swan) look like Odette at the royal ball, and instead of removing the spell prince's announcement of eternal love to a wrong person makes it unbreakable. After the mistake is revealed, Odette forgives Siegfried but rather than remaining a swan, leaps into the lake to die. Siegfried jumps after her. It breaks the spell on other maidens, lovers ascend into heaven to be reunited and be happy there.
**Matthew Bourne's** ***Swan Lake*** \- the Prince was always unloved by the Queen, and having been bereft of affection has visions of swans and falls in love with the lead Swan, which makes him reconsider his suicide. During a ball a lead Swan lookalike appears, rejects the Prince, passionately kisses the Queen, the Prince produces a pistol and threatens to shoot the Queen. As the result the Prince regarded as having lost his mind, is confined in his room, the lead Swan reappears and shows to other swans that he prefers Prince over them, they kill and dismember of the lead Swan, he disappears. Prince dies of a broken heart. Queen finds his body and breaks down in tears. Prince and lead Swan are seen in reflection with the lead Swan tenderly holding the Prince.
***La Bayadère*** \- the bayadère (a temple dancer) Nikiya and the warrior Solor are in love and have sworn eternal fidelity to each other. High Brahmin selected Solor to be married to his daughter Gamzatti. At the betrothal celebrations Nikiya dances for Solor and Gamzatti, and is given a basket of flowers which she believes are from Solor, but it's from Gamzatti, and has a hidden snake that bites her. The High Brahmin offers to give Nikiya the antidote to the poison if she will renounce her vow to Solor, but she chooses death. During the marriage at the temple the gods take revenge for Nikiya's murder by destroying the temple and all of its occupants. Shades of Nikiya and Solor are reunited in afterlife and are happy there.
***Supernatural*** \- since Sam and Dean's story is no longer written by God, Dean dies to a run of the mill vampire. Sam survives to the old age, dies, ascends into heaven to be reunited with his brother, parents and friends and is happy there.
***Lost*** \- in the last episode it is revealed that flash sideways into an alternative lives of the characters are actually future flashes of the afterlife. Jack dies in the same spot where he woke after the crash in the first episode, ascends into afterlife to be reunited with everyone and be happy there.
