I thought Tremors was Dune until I watched Dune with Timothy Chalamet this weekend
My dad was the type of guy who would flip through channels and pick any movie that happened to be on, no matter how far in it was. As a result I saw most of the first Tremors movie a lot of times as a kid, and usually different parts. At some point in my life I learned that the movie Dune existed, it was a popular movie from before I was born, and it had sand worms. I had seen Tremors on tv multiple times, it was older then me, and it had sand worms so I naturally assumed that it must’ve been Dune that my dad and I would watch randomly. So when the new Dune movie with Timothey Chalamet came out in 2021, I truly thought to myself, “that cheesey Kevin Bacon movie? Man they’ll reboot anything.” I also didn’t bother watching Dune Part One when it came out because I had a daughter under 1 so going to the movies wasn’t a thing. Now, almost 3 years later Dune Part 2 has come out, my wife and I see Part 1 on HBO and she suggests we watch it because people seem to like it. I say, “the old one with Kevin Bacon was fun, sure.” She thinks nothing of this because she hasn’t seen Tremors or the original Dune. 10 minutes into the movie I was thinking to myself, “was Dune’s lore always this complex?” About 30 minutes in I finally google “Kevin Bacon Dune” and realize my mistake.
