Let's talk constructively about "momentum/scripting"

Some people will relate to this more than others:

Feeling that your players are losing on second balls and loose balls, always losing on rebounds, basically every 50/50 feels like a 0/100

The AI players are out of position and out of time, while the opponent AI players seem to respond faster and to be always on a good spot.

First let's agree that this experience is not just imagination or tilt, it is experienced.

Now my personal opinion to why this is happening : AI Press tactics

1) I think AI press tactics (press on heavy touch/constant press) are following an algorithm that is irrelevant of player defensive stats or Pace stats, meaning the players pressing will all move at the same pace, and position/ mark the same way.

2) I think AI press tactics make the defending team more aware of the phase of play/situation : position of the ballholder and where he looks at, position of all his team mates and his movements, add to that : prediction of the future movement of the ball, prediction of when and where the ball will be lost or be in the next 50/50 situation

and they seem to react accordingly when these factors are changing.

On the other hand i think the attacking team AI, is less situation aware (a lot of the attacking team AI team mates are just casually holding position or just feel completely unplugged if they are too far from play, they feel unaware that the team is being pressed, that they are being marked, that a defender is shadowing them, cutting them from a pass. They just dont react to the defensive team and accept whatever situation, add to that: they also don't seem to have a predictive algorithm of where a ball might be lost or 50/50,

3) i think that the pressing team reaction time to an event (pass, ball loss, or 50/50) is lower ( i mean faster) than the attacking team, they are reacting almost before the pass animation goes, or the ball loss anomation happens, while the attacking team seems to realize that they lost the ball only late

I also feel this reaction time is independent of defensive or reaction stats, (therefore giving an edge to a 60 rated players with press tactics over a 80 rated player)

I understand that these press tactics are coming from a place to stop people from wasting time, but they seem to create a lot of imbalances in trying to fix something that seems to be still possible regardless.

I think AI intervention in general makes the game less fun, because the user experience becomes more of "how do i defeat this AI that makes so little mistakes while my players are unresponsive" rather than " how can i outsmart this opponent who i want to give my hats off to"

From previous fifa experience, this extra barrier of needing to defeat pressing AI ends up in very repetitive gameplay experience, of cat and mouse and some mechanic to get out of press and repeat.

Now to my suggestion based on my assumptions that could be wrong:

1) AI pressing should be fair to play against one way or another (by adding more attacking AI to the game, or by balancing the pressing team by making it less perfect and more taxing if used for long time)

2) teams that hold possession for long phases should get taxed in their stamina and composure (rendering them more prone to press)

My ideal vision is :

1) deter people from using constant press in general and especially for full games and still have the upper hand => make press less overpowered, more relative to defensive attributes and more taxing on the team

2) stop people from passing the ball at the back or playing negatively without getting taxed for it => increase chance of mistakes in long and negative possession phases, and more taxing on the holding ball team

3) reward/ encourage positive play and attack each other
