Swimming in debt. I need help. Any input on debt consolidation?
I’m a veteran with fibromyalgia. I have just under $25k in credit card debt. I was in a bad place for about five years, I was stuck. Was on the verge of suicide and gave up. Had a loaded gun to my head last year and was ready to end it. Ended up in an intensive outpatient program for six months. I’ve done about 15 med trials over the years. Went through numerous treatments from TMS, ketamine therapy, and then shock therapy. The latter of which destroyed me, and I’m still suffering cognitive deficits. Family and friends had to intervene & help, and for that I’m thankful.
It was a long uphill battle that took years and a few appeals, but I finally got my rating to 100% a few months back. I’m trying to get my life back in order after treading water for so long. I’m paying the minimums monthly, and with rent, inflation, and cost of living, I’m still cutting it close. After rent and utilities etc, I have about $1,200 left for food, life, and credit card bills. I’m at least in a place now where I have a guaranteed income I could allocate to a monthly payment. Open to any and all input. Thank you.
