Tanya Von Degurechaff, Guardian

So I would have preferred that this little side project of mine was finished before I posted this but I can feel my motivation for this slowly drain away and tbh I'm *close enough*, so I figured I might as well just post this now.

I've been playing quite a lot of Destiny 2 since it went to Steam as a free-to-play game. Liked it so much I've spent money on it too, bought the Forsaken DLC (for 40% off), bought the current season pass (really just so I could get the super heavy duty-looking bow) and even bought an emote for real money (of my character shooting a flare into the sky).

Anyways, after a while of playing I felt that the Warlock had quite a lot in common with the Flight Mages of Youjo Senki, soooo I went and made a second character.

This is the final-ish result of a few weeks of grinding, helped along by the bank and a few character-boosting tutorials I found, so it's not lagging behind my main character that much.

In case it wasn't clear, I was trying to make this character look somewhat like Tanya. Don't think I did too well, but the character customization outside of gear leaves much to be desired (not that it really matters cuz she'd be wearing a face-obscuring helmet like 90% of the time).

I also tried to make her equipment similar to Tanya's from the story. Primary is an SMG like the one Tanya took from Anson Sue, but a weird quirk in the game is that the SMGs all have the magazine loaded into the handle, so it doesn't quite look the part. Secondary and tertiary weapons are a sniper rifle and light machinegun respectively because...

well, she's holding them right there. (source is chapter 4, btw, last page)

One last thing about the guns, I tried to find ones with an older-looking steel-and-wood build, but the only place that drops weapons like that is Gambit, which is kinda hit-or-miss to how enjoyable it is. Another way was to apply a shader called Gambit Leather to the guns.

For SOME odd reason, though, despite this shader's ingame rarity being a blue (fairly common), it's actually ridiculously rare because the only way to get it is to dismantle gambit gear that drop with this shader applied. That sounds simple but is actually not because those drops have pretty good stats so it takes a while before I get better equipment that I can dismantle, and so far I haven't succeeded yet.

As for which element and skill tree I picked, really most of them outside of a few could fit. Currently I picked Solar element, middle tree, because it's kinda a heavy support skill and this happened.

![img](qqu4pcl2ekw31 "basically Tanya buffing and healing her entire battalion, which is basically the Super of Solar middle tree.")

Arc middle tree has her firing a giant Arc ~~laser~~ beam from her hand, and that's kinda Tanya's signature move in the manga, outside of casting a giant explosion and self destruction, both of which are in every tree of the Void element.

Now, the reason why I said at the start this wasn't exactly complete is because while the coat I currently have equipped is very similar to the one she wears in the anime, there was actually another coat that imo was closer to it (I didn't go with the manga on this one cuz it kinda just looks like a regular trench coat, and those are dime a dozen for Warlocks).

Yes, it looks almost exactly similar to the one I currently have (what really mattered in this case was that it was a trench coat and it had that fur collar), but this one looks more rugged, doesn't have some kinda weirdly placed triangles around the place, and seems to have a radio strapped to the chest.

To conclude, I spent like three weeks grinding this character, am pretty happy with the result, thought it could have been better, if I had gotten that coat and if the game would let me shoot and fly at the same time (when you start shooting, the boost turns off and you kinda drop like a rock)

Awful lot of effort I put into a reddit meme post.

Next project: make a Hunter that looks like a Helldiver
