No balcony high rises?

I was just driving and noticed the high rises that are being built where Honest Eds was do not have balconies (there was one with), the ones being built at Dufferin and Bloor have none too. Is there a reason? I live on a very high floor and couldnt imagine being without a balcony. How do you guys manage being in condo/apartment/high rise unit and not have one? It serves like an additional room for me or like a "backyard".
