How "Blocking People" is detrimental to Reddit

I am aware that the old system caused a lot of complains to the admins, but the new feature, allowing literally everyone to ban others from contributing in topics is now being used the abusive manners that were predictable by the critics from the start.

The intention to give people the ability to block what they perceive as "unwanted opinions" has lead to a culture where those who are not able to think critically just block everyone who does not agree with them, while Scammers and Bots block everyone who points out that they are criminals trying to scam the community.

The new implementation of the blocking-feature has added zero value to Reddit but allowed a small minority of toxic individuals to sabotage discussions and use their power to gaslight communities.

This has to be changed back to the old system or even better, be replaced with a tool that does not give individual scammers the ability to hide their tracks.

Since the media caught wind of "reddit moving stock market prices" in 2021, the amount of scammers has gone up significantly and the change in the blocking-feature enabled them to do it much more efficiently than ever before.

Imho, the blocking feature as it was introduced was 100% a mistake and should be rolled back as soon as possible. It is only harming communities and reddit and there is nothing to gain from it. It does not bring any advantages, but makes finding truth and engaging in arguments a lot harder than it ever was.

Please rethink your position on that completely botched change to reddit and undo the mistake before it harms reddit and its communities in an irreparable way.
