An alternative take I read on the show: Xander didn't truly love Anya

It is not mine but one I read in this subreddit that said their relationship is more interesting if he never truly loved Anya but rather he genuinely had affection, obviously, but he kind of settled for her. I don't think that's canon but it's an interesting read. Thoughts?
