Molded beeswax -- first and second attempts (with bonus first hand dipped "tapers")
I know I talk a good game, but now I'm putting my money where my mouth is, or whatever. ;)
All of the above are beeswax candles I've made in the last week or so.
The first picture is my test burn of the very first set I made, using a 3/0 and a 4/0 square braided wick; I like the 4/0 better for them.
Picture number two is the spread of candles I made today, including a pair of heart-shaped molds that I got because I love the idea of giving people literal heartburn. XD They were on Amazon Haul and I needed the extra two or three bucks to get free shipping, so I figured why not.. they actually work quite well!
Picture number three shows one of my beeswax molded candles next to a store-bought four hour paraffin candle, for size and shape comparison.
Picture number four was my first attempt at hand dipping, which I have decided for the time being is not going to be my first priority. ;) Yes, I have already been informed that they look like a certain handmade feminine product... Considering that it was my very first time ever making beeswax candles, and I only had my little basic melting pot in which to make them, I think they came out pretty well. I haven't yet convinced myself to burn them, although I did make one pair with the 3/0 and one pair with the 4/0 wick. I may just hold on to them and the other pair of the first set that I made for the sake of posterity.
I'm debating with myself whether I want to overdip them for color or leave them as is, but I think I'm going to start experimenting with color next. Eventually I will be branching out into scented soy blend votives, but the wisdom on the sub is generally to familiarize myself and get comfortable with only one thing at a time, lest I overwhelm myself... I defer to superior experience!
Anyway I want to thank everybody for always being so helpful and supportive here, I'm so grateful for this community!!
