All of Dust's scenes in the "Wolverine & the X-Men" animated series

Let's talk about the good and the bad!

For starters, the good - the animation where she falls away like sand is beautifully done. Sooraya isn't sexualized in this show like she has been in the past (and unfortunately in some of the preview image) - however, I consider that a small win.

As for the bad, I don't like her repeated incarceration. A little too real-world unfortunately, many of us come to this Marvel universe as an escape from all that. But perhaps worst of all is having her on a helicopter with Pyro and Boom-Boom blowing up an aircraft hangar - particularly given that this came out in 2009 - is just dripping in harmful stereotypes of the day.

Granted, in the story it's done for their own safety and survival as well as at the behest of Wolverine, but it doesn't change the heavy associations to harmful prejudices that circled Muslims in the U.S. throughout the 2000's and even into today.
