Bryton S510 Still Has Sticky Cadence Problem

DC Rainmaker and GPLama have previously reported that Bryton head units have a "sticky watts" problem. When you stop pedalling the power doesn't go directly to zero. Instead it ramps down to zero over several seconds. This is incorrect as it should be recording zero power over that time. This results in things like average power being incorrect. They also reported that this affected cadence.

I bought a Bryton S510 and tried it out today. I stopped pedalling through various intersections (so I can identify where on the map I am). I then looked at the fit file from the unit via Golden Cheetah. It's very obvious that when I stopped pedalling, the cadence drops for 5 seconds, eventually going to zero. In reality, I stop pedalling instantly.

Before buying the unit I asked Bryton if this is still an issue. They steadfastly ignored me. I asked all the reviewers of the device that I could find. Literally every single one said, "It works for me for what I use it for", which made me think that was part of the agreement where they got their free unit.

I realised before purchasing the unit that this was likely to be the case. I'm still happy with the purchase. Everything else works pretty much exactly as I had hoped. I just want to have somewhere on the internet where it is clear that this issue is not resolved (at least for cadence). I don't have a power meter to test it. For cadence, I don't really care about the inaccuracy. For power, I may have to consider my options when I eventually get around to buying a power meter. I just wanted a low cost, relatively capable head unit for the training I'm doing now and this seems to be working well (considerably better than Cadence on my crappy old Android phone).

I will do a more complete review when I've had time to use it more.
