Suspects behind cocaine charter identified / Canadian crew home from D.R. after 8 mo detention

The Pivot Airlines flight crew that reported a suspicious bag on their CRJ and helped discover 200kgs of cocaine on their plane were allowed to go [home after eight months of detention](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/pivot-airlines-crew-home-canada-dominican-republic-1.6671733) in the Dominican Republic.

How did it come to this? [Television channel CTV has exposed the group of people](https://www.ctvnews.ca/w5/w5-exposes-the-drug-connections-and-money-trail-in-the-pivot-airlines-story-1.6188788) that hired the flights, pretending to be real estate developers. Four of the 11 passengers on the flight have checkered pasts: trafficking charges. One passenger was able to leave the D.R. just in time before the arrests were made. Criminal records do not prove anything, though, so these charter customers remain nothing but suspects.
