I’m overwhelmed with these hydrangeas. Help!

These have exploded in the three years we’ve owned this house. I always prune them right under the dead bloom in early spring to maximize blooms, it’s what YouTube told me to do. And while I enjoy a wild/layered look to my landscaping, these are clearly too big for their britches and look sloppy. They’re also planted in extremely sunny spots, so they always crisp up after like a few weeks no matter how much I water.

Would transplanting them to a shadier spot be an option? I’m intimidated. Failing that - when and how to prune to a more attractive size? Early spring still? Just hack off a bunch of branches and hope for the best?

9b Oregon coast. Gets hotter every year, though. Thanks for any advice!
