iDevices Instant Switch - any way to use it?

I have one spare iDevices instant switch, and possibly another if I give up on using it as intended (as I did with the first one). Does anyone know if there's a way to connect them to Homebridge, or directly to an iOS device via Shortcuts? As far as I can tell they're BLE, but they only send commands if paired to a wired iDevices switch.

For those that don't know, the Instant Switch is like a Pico remote for your iDevices switches, using Bluetooth. They have terrible battery life (claim 2 years - more like six months) and frequently lose connection, which is usually fixed by rebooting the wired switch.
