I added Bluetooth audio to an iPod classic 6G, with a custom bootloader and OS patches, and a native BT menu
After a lot of work, I have a fully working prototype of Bluetooth audio on the iPod classic. The video shows the whole flow: enable BT, pair with a device, play music. **Hardware** iPod classic 6th gen, 80GB FSC-BT1036C Bluetooth module 1.8V to 3.3V level shifter **How it's wired** **Audio:** I2S taken from the CPU, tapped at the DAC input pins, so the module gets the digital stream directly **Control:** UART between the iPod and the BT module **Firmware side** Unlocked the original Apple bootloader. It boots both encrypted and decrypted OSOS images Patched OSOS to: Lock the I2S bus to 44.1kHz while BT is connected Add a custom Bluetooth menu Run a background BT task that handles communication and processes remote commands (play control, volume, track info) **Power** The BT module is fully unpowered when the iPod sleeps, so there's no added standby drain. Happy to answer questions about the wiring, the bootloader work, or the patches. I'm considering what to share once things are cleaned up.
