Iman Boost in Salah
Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters and Ramadan Mubarak! With Eid almost upon us, I have been in deep reflection and thinking about what elevates my iman with Allah (swt). Especially this Ramadan, I've concluded that something I have been struggling with is getting the feeling of meaning when praying to Allah in salah. Even in sujud, I struggle to actually feel close to Allah. I think this is primarily driven by the fact that I am a convert/revert who was raised as a Protestant Christian. I guess what I'm meaning to say is that, it feels difficult to pray to a faceless God. I understand the importance and necessity for avoiding depiction of Allah (swt) and all of the prophets but it makes it hard to feel Allah's presence in my salah when I simply cannot imagine how wonderful He looks. It was drilled into my head as a kid that God has a face but I have learned this is something that it is better not to depict for we don't know for certain what Allah looks like. Basically, what I'm wondering is what are some tips any of you might have for trying to feel close to Allah (swt) in salah, especially sujud? I know some things that boost my iman like crazy are reading about Allah's power (whether that be in the Qur'an, hadiths, or other) and donating to charity (especially giving directly, not just over the internet). Jazakallah khair!
I testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger. May Allah make us among the righteous in Jannah and save us from the Hellfire. Ameen.
