Why I believe Anivia is one of the best champions to climb elo, for players with not-so-great-mechanics, with a certain playstyle, and wondering if other champions fit this criteria
Let me preface that I am a 39-year-old fossil, I played many games over the years, but League is one I often come back too, but my reflex are nowhere close to my golden days (dare I say I never had "golden" days, my highest elo was lower plat back in S2)
TL/DR: So long as an Anivia is alive and healthy, she is THE best turtler
Prolonging games you are losing, giving time and opportunities to win
\----------------------------
One way to "carry: the game is by playing those high skill/high reward champions that if they manage to get ahead, (and no one on enemy team can match them) is very hard to put down, like LeBlanc, Fizz, Twitch, Evelyn etc (high skill is subjective, not the point of the post)
\-------------------------
Anivia is quite the opposite
You can't really capitalize much on being ahead; she is a slow-moving, slow projectile, low range mage. Her Q has a long range, but it's one of the easiest abilities in game to dodge
Basically, she ain't assassinating the enemy carries without putting herself at significant risk, and if she gets a good AoE stun as an initiator, her team can rarely take good advantage of it
But her real strength lies in her entire kit
Her E, which you max first, is point-target and can't miss
Her wall can outright win games, or outright lose them.
I focus on avoiding the latter; that's all. For example, I do it mainly as disengage, to prevent further losses, both in teammates and towers, but you can catch someone tremendously off guard with it
She often builds RoA first, so it's easy to stay healthy, and she is naturally tanky if she combines it with Seraph's and Liandry's, which you should defo build vs bruisers and tanks
RoA, Seraph, Maligance, Void Staff is my go-to, and usually with Swiftboots, you want to throw her E safely and back off, if it goes that far
Glacial Storm combined with Q, clear waves safely, preventing the enemy pushing into towers
Her passive is amazing unless you are horribly out of position; granted, it's easy to happen if you are taking risks, which you might have to, if your team is behind
And to reiterate my TL/DR: So long as an Anivia is alive and healthy, she is THE best turtler
Prolonging games you are losing, giving time and opportunities to win, even if the score is 20-40, you nexus being blown up is the only guaranteed way of losing
