What are people's genuine thoughts on OxygenOS 13.x? Good & bad, trying to decide whether to come back to OP or not

I currently have a Pixel 7 Pro, and while I have few complaints with it it has never given me the same "wow" feeling that I had with my OnePlus 7 Pro a few years back. No phone has actually. The complaints I do have with the P7P are the battery is pretty meh and and the cell service is also no where near what the Qualcomm modems achieve.

I've been thinking about my next phone because while I do like my P7P the lackluster battery life really annoys me, and it's between the Pixel 8 Pro and OnePlus 12 (?). I know the OnePlus hardware will be stellar, using Qualcomm's top CPU, GPU, and modem, and I'm nervous about risking another year of mediocre battery & service on the Pixel 8 Pro despite the supposed upgrades it will be getting.

The one thing I'm a bit hesitant about with OnePlus is the software. I used to love the near-stock OOS but I've seen a lot of hate for OxygenOS after the Oppo software merger. As I have not used the "new" version of OOS myself nor do I know anyone who has it I was hoping to get some pros/cons from people who actually use it on a daily basis.

The last thread I saw related to this was back at the beginning of the year, so does anyone have any thoughts either way on the current state of OOS (preferably from people who actually use it)?
