Path of Building: Import from your account new feature?

Love path of Building! I might spend more time in that than the actual game. When I opted in for the beta updates, it has a new section at the top where it gives you the option of linking your account directly. Is there a reason why you would do this instead of importing by account name? Is this just an option for people who have private profiles to still import? I know new expansions must be a pile of work, so thanks for all you all do for the community!
