Italy Venice Florence Rome notes

We just returned from the RS tour of Italy. Since this board help I thought I would pass on some notes.

Overall the trip was outstanding, but certainly it is a little tiring being on the go all the time. I wish I read the instruction more closely as you need to book some of the sights such as the DOGE places months in advance, but so much was included it the tour I was just not sure.

The hotel in Venice had a great location, but it was 800 years old so it had its challenges, such a no elevator. The hotels in Florence and Rome were at least 4 stars. The hotel in Rome was the hotel for American Airlines so it was extra busy.

The restaurants that were used for group dinners were top notch. Eat and drank too much wine, but so did everyone.

During the entire trip never used cash, credit cards was fine everywhere.

We come two days early in Rome and stayed one block from Termini Station. The area was perfectly fine. We took the train from Rome to Venice which I booked 4 months in advance, It took 4 hours and was perfect.

We stayed an extra 8 days in Rome as there is too much to see and just wanted to relax.

In Rome, we used the train and we Freenow to get Taxi, Used Taxi for some out of the way locations . Taxis are fairly priced will come within 5 minutes from anywhere. We used Uber Black for a special dinner and the price was not bad for a huge BMW black sedan.

Only once did we encounter a pickpocket, someone tried to take the map out of my back pocket, I guess they thought it was a wallet.

Venice was extremely crowed as they had a artist thingy going on. Venice seems to be the destination of choice for older gay couples, I will pass on to my gay friends.

Florence seems to be the choice for weddings, several Italian and Chinese weddings going on, maybe because of spring.

Rome was as busy as you could expect. so you need more time.
